John Bradshaw Lowe known as 'Jack' was born in 1892 at Horncastle, and was the son of John Bradshaw Lowe a wood general dealer and Rebecca Lowe née Smith of 2 Dovecote Alley, Horncastle. His father John Bradshaw was born in 1872 at Horncastle, his mother Rebecca Smith was born in 1871 also at Horncastle, they were married on 12th November 1890 at Horncastle and had 14 children, sadly one died in infancy or early childhood, their children were John Bradshaw b1892, Lilly b1893,Ernest b1896, Harold b1897, Cyril b1900, Annie b1902, Ivy b1904, Gertrude b1907, Doris b1909, OLive b1910, Herbert b1916 and Walter b1918 In the 1911 census the family are living at 2 Dovecote Alley Horncastle and are shown as John Bradshaw Lowe 39 yrs a wood general dealer, he is living with his wife Rebecca 39 yrs and their children, Jack 19 yrs a general wood dealer, Lilly 18 yrs no occupation, Edith 16 yrs no occupation, Ernest 14 yrs a wood chopper, Harold 13 yrs a wood chopper, Cyril 11 yrs a scholar, Annie 9 yrs a scholar, Ivy 7 yrs a scholar, Gertrude 4 yrs Doris 2 yrs and Olive 7 months. John Bradshaw married his wife Milly Hartshorne (born 20th July 1893) in 1916 at Nottingham, they lived at 73 Allen Street, Hucknall and went on to have a daughter Mary Lowe born 15th November 1917 Following his death his widow Millie was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence which commenced on 26th May 1919.
He was a general wood dealer.

Private John Bradshaw Lowe enlisted at Lincoln whilst residing at Hucknall, he initially served with the service number 22357 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) He was serving with the 18th battalion The King's (Liverpool Regiment ) when he died on 15th November 1918 of influenza, he is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France.
