Born in 1898 at Netherfield. Ernest was living with his grandparents William and Georgiana Musson in 1901 at Longacre Bingham. He is shown as a nurse child. By 1911 the family are at 176 Foxhill Road, Carlton. He was working as an errand boy with a local printing firm. Also living there are his sister Ivy and brother John. His military papers show his Father as William Musson of 176, Foxhill Rd., Carlton, Nottingham

Enlisted at Nottingham. Originally Private 22187 2nd Btn Sherwood Foresters. He went to France 16 August 1915. Killed in action he is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial France. He was eligible for the 1915 Star, British and Victory medals.
His brother Private John William Musson enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Carlton, he initially served with the service number 1782 in the South Notts Hussar, he landed in Egypt on 12th September 1915 and later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps Cavalry and was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 30th September 1918. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq
