George (Edward) Ernest Rudd was born in 1898 the son of Philip William a leather dresser and Elizabeth Ann Rudd née Hopewell, of 34, Radcliffe St., Meadows, Nottingham. Phillip William was born in 1870 at Newcastle Upon Tyne, Elizabeth Annie Hopewell was born in 1869 at Sneinton, Nottingham, married on 29th May 1887 in The Meadows, Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, their children were, Phillip William b1888, Mabel b1893, Elizabeth Annie b1895 George Edward b1898 and Charles Thomas b1903 all were born in Bermondsey. In 1911 the family are living at 2 Eleanor Terrace, Lamcote Street, Meadows, Nottingham Phillip William Rudd is 41 yrs and a leather dresser,

Private George Rudd enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing in the Meadows, he was killed in action on 3rd September 1916 and is buried at Ancre British Cemetery Cemetery, Beaumont Hamel.
Note this man is referred to as either George Edward or George Ernest depending on the document sourced. He was registered as George Edward in 1898.
