He was the husband of Gertrude Summers and the father of Walter Edward Summers. In 1911 they lived at 44 Loughborough Avenue Sneinton Dale. Gertrude later moved to 47 Chain Row Lenton (both Nottingham).
In 1911 he was a grocery and provision assistant.

11th Bn Leicestershire Regiment
Private Thomas Archibald Summers, served with the 11th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he died of wounds on 22nd April 1917. He is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery.
Death notices published on 30th April 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “SUMMERS. – Killed in action April 22nd, Private Thomas Archibald Summers, Leicesters, aged 33 years, late 1, Edwinstowe-avenue, West Bridgford, Safe in the arms of Jesus. – From his sorrowing wife and three children. “SUMMERS. – Killed in action, April 22nd, Private Thomas Archibald Summers, Leicesters, aged 33 years.
