Henry Weston was born in 1889 at Hucknall and was the son of William a railway labourer and Millicent Weston née Caunt of Hucknall. His father William was born in 1843 at Hucknall and died in 1902 aged 58 yrs and his mother Millicent Caunt was born in 1848 at Hucknall and died in 1908 aged 60 yrs, they were married in 1867 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District, they went on to have the following children, Elizabeth b1868, Alfred b1870, Ann b1872, William b1877, Fred b1875 and Henry b1889 all were born in Hucknall In the 1911 census he is living with his brother Frank at 42 Beardall Street, Hucknall and is shown as being 21 yrs of age, single and a railway clerk he is living with his married brother Frank 36 yrs a coal miner and his wife Mary Alice 34 yrs and their children. His probate proven on 20th September 1916 at Nottingham shows him as Henry Weston of 88 Derbyshire Lane, Hucknall, Private in H.M.Army died 8th July 1916 in France, his effects of £40 19 shillings were left to William Weston a coal miner

10th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Henry Weston enlisted at Nottingham on30th November 1915, he gave his age as 26 yrs and 6 months, his address as 62 Watnall Road, Hucknall and his occupation as that of a clerk for the Great Central Railway. His next of kin was his uncle William Weston of 18 Buildings Street, Hucknall. He was posted to the reserves and mobilised for war on 21st February 1916 and posted to the 3rd battalion Sherwood Foresters arriving at their depot in Derby the following day. He landed in France on 14th June 1916 and was posted in the field to the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters. He was killed in action on 8th July 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
