Percy Keward was born in 1897 at Nottingham and was the son of John Arthur a joiner and Annie Elizabeth Keward née Kemp. His father John Arthur was born in 1879 at Nottingham, his wife Annie Elizabeth was born in 1879 also at Nottingham, they were married in 1897 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Percy b1897, John Arthur b1904. in the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Purdys Yard, Pelican Street, Radford and are shown as Annie Elizabeth 32 yrs married a lace worker clipper, she is living with her children, Percy 14 yrs an iron worker driller and John Arthur 7 yrs a scholar, also living at the address is Thomas Kemp 62 yrs a printer he is described as father.
In the 1911 census he is an iron worker driller.

1/7th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Percy Keward enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme 1st July 1916. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
