Arthur Sibbring was born in 1885 he was the son of George Henry an iron moulder and Elizabeth Sibbring née Smith and the brother of William, John, Mary, Leonard, Joy and Wilfred Sibbring. George Henry was born in 1859 at Worksop Elizabeth Smith was born in 1863 at Hucknall under Huthwaite, they were married on 29th May 1882 at Whitwell, Derbyshire, they had 9 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1901 the family lived at 13 Redoubt Street and in 1911 at 15 Beresford Street (both Old Radford Nottingham). They later moved to 52 George Lane Bredbury Stockport Cheshire.

9th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Arthur Sibbring enlisted on 7th June 1915 aged 31 yrs at Hyde Stockport Cheshire. On 13 June he was posted to 13th Battalion Sherwood Foresters which was a reserve base at Lichfield. On 18 September 1915 he joined the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters on Gallipoli and was with them in Egypt and when they moved to France at the end of June 1916. The battalion took part in the Battle of Messines and on 10 June 1917 were located on the Mahieu - Oosttaverne line. The line was heavily shelled from 10.20 pm until 12.15 am and possibly it was during this that Arthur was killed.He is buried in Irish House Cemetery A.14
His brother Leonard Sibbring served wit the service number 15020 in the 72nd Company Machine Gun Corps, he was killed in action on 30th August 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial , he was 22 yrs old. (not recorded on the Nottinghamshire Roll of Honour)
