Arthur Allsopp was born in 1889 in Nottingham. He married his wife Mabel Stevens on 16th February 1909 at St Mathias Parish Church, Carlton Road, and they went on to have the following children: Doris born 5th May 1909, Clarice born 18th October 1912 and Edna born 12th January 1915. They lived at 33 Davis Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham, but by the time of the 1911 census the family are shown living at 16 Davis Street, Carlton Road, and are shown as Arthur 22 yrs, a hosiery frame work knitter, who is living with his wife Mabel 23 yrs a blouse hand and their daughter Doris 1 yr.
He was a hosiery framework knitter in 1911 and gave his occupation as a hosiery factory hand when he enlisted in 1914

8th Bn Leicestershire Regiment
Private Arthur Allsopp enlisted on 4th September 1914 at Nottingham. He gave his age as 25 yrs and 151 days and his occupation as hosiery factory hand. He was posted to the 8th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He was promoted to acting lance corporal on 23rd January 1915 but reverted to private on 29th August 1915 due to misconduct. He landed in France on 29th July 1915 and was killed in action on 24th February 1916. He is buried in Berles-Au-Bois Churchyard Extension, Pas de Calais, France.
