He was the son of Herbert and Hannah Mary Cory. Thomas had one sibling, a sister, Lily, who died on 2 December 1896 at the age of 2 years 9 months. His father died on 2 June 1910 age 45 years and in 1911 his widow and son (14) lived at 7 Woollerton Street, Hucknall Torkard. There was also a boarder in the household, Samuel Scarborough (54). Hannah died on 25 October 1938 age 58 years.

Machine Gun Corps 164508. He is buried in the family grave in Hucknall Cemetery. He qualified for the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
There is no record of Cory on CWGC. Inscription on family gravestone, Hucknall Cemetery: Face 1. 'In loving memory of Herbert, the beloved husband of Hannah Mary Cory, who died June 2nd 1910, aged 45 years. Also of Hannah Mary, who died Oct 25th 1938 aged 58 years. At rest.' Face 2. 'In loving memory of their beloved daughter, Lily Cory, who died Dec 2nd 1896 aged 2 years & 9 months. Face3. 'In loving memory of their beloved son Thomas Henry Cory of the South Notts Hussars who died March 13th 1921 aged 24 years. O valiant hearts who in their glory Came through dust of conflict and through battle flame, Tranquil you lie, your knightly virtue proved, Your memory hallowed in the land you loved.
