Walter was born at Arnold in 1889, the son of Amelia and the late William Corah of 64 Duke Street, Arnold, Nottingham. William was born in 1853 in Arnold and worked as a bricklayers labourer while Amelia was born in 1860 also in Arnold .Walter had two brothers, Albert born 1888 in Arnold and Edward born 1892 also in Arnold

1/4th Bn Lincolnshire Regiment
He enlisted into the Lincolnshire Regiment at Mansfield. He went to France and Flanders with his regiment and in 1917, he was with them serving in France where the British Army had opened the Battle of Arras. Walter was a casualty of this offensive.
He is buried in Maroc British Cemetery, France and his name is commemorated on his families grave at Redhill Cemetery,Arnold This man is commemorated in a book of remembrance held by Mansfield District Council.
