Son of Amos and Millicent Featherstone of Mansfield. Widow Alice Maud, nee Foster. They married in 1910 and lived at 59 Chiltern Street, Anlaby. Children, Maud was born in 1907, Amos in 1912 and Kathleen in 1915. Maud was born before they married.
In 1911 he was working as a deep sea fisherman based in Hull.

Serving on the minesweeper, Scania. The Scania was in service from December 1916. She was sunk in the Dover Straits on 02/08/1918 when she was in collision with patrol boat, P.57. Only two men died, Donald Featherstone and William Plane. Donald's body was not recovered for burial.
This man is commemorated in a book of remembrance held by Mansfield District Council.
