Alfred Yeomans (junior) was born in 1882 at Nottingham and was the son of Alfred (senior) a general fitter and Jane Yeomans née Lomas of 51 Woolpack Lane Nottingham. His father Alfred was born in 1846 at Radford and his mother Jane Lomas was born in 1846 at Leamington, they were married in 1872 at Nottingham, they went on to have 13 children, sadly however 9 died in infancy or early childhood. Alfred Yeomans (junior) was the husband of Mary Emma Alice Yeomans (née Oldknow ) whom he married on 14th September 1903 at St Mary's Church Nottingham. They had 4 children Evelyn born 1903, Alfred born 1905, Thomas Henry born 1910 and Jane born 1915. They lived on Kent Road Porchester Estate Mapperley Nottingham. In the 1911 census his parents are living at 51 Woolpack Lane, Nottingham and are shown as Alfred 65 yrs a general fitter, he is living with his wife Jane 65 yrs a hosiery ironer and their married daughter Nellie Ward 35 yrs and granddaughter Mabel Ward 3 yrs of age. In the same 1911 census Alfred (junior) and his family are living at Kent Road, Mapperley, Nottingham and are shown as Alfred 27 yrs a florist, he is living with his wife Emma Mary Alice 26 yrs and their children, Evelyn 7 yrs, Alfred 6 yrs and Thomas Henry 7 months of age
He was a nurseryman and florist.

Private Alfred Yeomans enlisted on 8th December 1915 at Nottingham. He gave his age as 32 yrs and 3 months , his address was Kent Road, Mapperley, Nottingham and his occupation was that of a nurseryman and florist, his next of kin was his wife Mary Emma Alice of the same address. He was transferred to the reserves the following day and on 16th June 1916 he was mobilised and posted to the 9th battalion Leicestershire Regiment. On 16th November 1916 he embarked at Folkstone and the following day joined the British Expeditionary Force in France. He was killed in action on 7th October 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial Panel 50 & 51
