Arthur Wilson was born in 1894 at Hucknall and was the son of Edward a coal miner and Harriet Wilson née Potts of 38 Carlingford Road, Hucknall. His father Edward was born in 1861 at Glascote, Staffordshire, his mother Harriett Potts was born in 1867 at Litchfield, Staffordshire, they were married on 25th December 1888 at St Editha Church, Tamworth, Staffordshire, they went on to have three children, sadly one died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Edward Harry b1891 and Arthur b1894 both were born in Hucknall. In the 1911 census the family lived at 38 Carlingford Road Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire and were shown as Edward 50 yrs a coal miner stallman, he is living with his wife Harriett 44 yrs and their sons Edward Harry 20 yrs a coal miner timber remover and Arthur 17 yrs a coal miner pony driver. Arthur married his wife Edna Dallman (born 19th February 1893 ) in 1913 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they lived at 3 Building Street, Hucknall and went on to have a daughter Edna May born 12th November 1913. Following his death his widow Edna was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 28th January 1918.
He was a miner.

Private Arthur Wilson, initially enlisted and served with service no 25903 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby)Regiment later transferring to the 1/6th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, He was killed in action on 1st July 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
