He was the son of John and Elizabeth Gutteridge and the brother of May, Clarice and Harry Gutteridge. In 1911 they lived on Carnarvon Grove and later at 12 Lime Avenue (both Huthwaite Nottinghamshire.
He was a miner (hewer).

Australian Hospital, France, (from pneumonia), Private George Gutteridge, Notts and Derbys, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Gutteridge, Lime Street, Huthwaite, aged 33 years. "God's finger touched him and he slept" - from Mother, Father, brother and Sister.
