Thomas Green married Betsy Jane Bennett in 1903 (Derby registration district). His wife was born in Derby on 25 December 1884 (reg. 1885 J/F/M). Thomas and Betsy had four children; two of whom died young. Their surviving children were Albert Edward b. Derby 30 June 1905 and Eveline (or Evelyn) Maud b. Derby 3 October 1908. The two children who died young were probably Frederick Thomas b. 1904 d. 1904 and Doris Eveline b. 1907 d. 1907 (births and deaths recorded in Derby registration district). In 1911 Thomas (33) a general labourer and Betsy Jane (27) were living at 1 Albion Place, Canal Street, Nottingham, with their two children Albert (6) and Evelyn (3). Commencing 8th March 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and and six pence a week

3rd Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) The Register of Soldiers' Effects records that he enlisted on 2 May 1896 when he would have been about 22 years old. However, by 1911 he was in a civilian occupation. Thomas died in Plymouth, Devon, on 24 August 1914 of pleurisy & pericarditis and was buried in Plymouth (Weston Mill) Cemetery (Mil. Con. C. 3565).
