George Cressey Parr was born in 1896 at Nottingham, the son of George Augusts Morris a lace warehouseman and Annie Eliza Parr née Cressey of 22 Gregory Boulevard Nottingham. George Augustus Morris Parr was born in 1869 at Ilkeston, Annie Eliza Cressey was born in 1866 at Brooklyn, New York, married in 1893 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 3 other children, Constance b1895, John Louis b1898 and Annie Kathleen b1904. In 1911 the family were living at 403 Alfreton Road, Nottingham, George Augustus Morris is 42 yrs and a lace warehouseman he is living with his wife Annie 45 yrs and their children.
He was a boot repairer upon enlistment.

Private George Cressy Parr enlisted on 7th October 1915 at Nottingham, giving his age as 19 yrs and 3 months, he was a boot repairer and resided at 22 Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham, his religion was that of a Wesleyan. Initially posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was transferred to the 13th battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He embarked from Southampton on 14th December 1916 landing at Le Harve the following day. He was transferred to the Labour 20th Coy Labour Corps on 9th May 1917. He was killed in action on 6th August 1917 and is buried at Canada Farm Cemetery.
