William Wright was born in 1882 in Nottingham, he was married to Annie Bimrose (b1882 Nottingham ) at Nottingham in 1902 , they went on to have 6 children sadly 4 of whom died in infancy or childhood prior to 1911 , their surviving 2 children were Annie b 1902 and Lititia b1901 , both were born in Nottingham In 1911 census they are shown lodging at 19 Pleasant Row Hyson Green Nottingham and are shown as William 29 yrs head of the family a house painter, he is living with his wife Annie and their two daughters Annie 9 yrs and Letita 1 yr.
He was a house painter.

2nd Bn Leicestershire Regiment
Private William Wright enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment , He landed in France on 19th March 1915 , the battalion was transferred to Mesopotamia in winter 1915 .He was killed in action on 7th January 1916 in Mesopotamia. His has no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial.
