John Henry White was born in 1875 at Lenton and was the son of Leslie White He was the husband of Frances White néé Bignall whom he married in 1894 in Nottingham, they went on to have a son Leslie White. In 1911 census the family are living at 18 Poet's Terrace Meadows, Nottingham and are shown as John Henry 36 yrs a mechanic fitter, he is living with his wife Frances 36 yrs a cigar box maker and their son Leslie 11 yrs born Basford a scholar. The family went on to live at 37 Radford Boulevard Radford, Nottingham
He was a machine fitter.

Royal Defence Corps
Private John Henry White enlisted on 20th January 1915 at Nottingham, he was 39 yrs of age and a fitter. He initially served with the service number 20485 in the Sherwood Foresters, he was transferred to the Royal Defence Corps on 29th April 1916 and served with the 165th Protection Company. He appeared before a medical board on 14th March 1918 and was found no longer physically fit for service. He was discharged on 9th April 1918 having served for a period of 3 yrs and 80 days , none of which were abroad. He was 42 yrs of age and his discharged address was 24 Bramcote Street, Radford Road, Nottingham. He died on 27th December 1918 and is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery
