He was the son of Abraham and Emma Bayliss and the brother of Edith, Ena, George, Arthur and Frolie Bayliss. In 1911 they lived at 59 Holgate Road Meadows Nottingham. Emma later lived at 73 Holgate Road.
He was an errand boy in 1911.

Lance Corporal
7th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Lance Corporal Abraham Bayliss, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment (Robin Hood Rifles), He landed in France on 25th June 1915. He died of wounds on 22nd March 1918 and is buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun (grave ref Vl.E.32)
Obituary published on 26th March 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BAYLISS. – Died of wounds, on the 22nd inst., Lance-Cpl. A. Bayliss, Sherwood Foresters, aged 21 years, fourth son of A. Bayliss, 73, Holgate-road. A great sacrifice. Peace, perfect peace. – From his broken-hearted mother, father, sisters, and brothers William, Arthur, George (serving) and James (prisoner of war).” Above obituary courtesy of Jim Grundy and his facebook pages Small Town Great War Hucknall 1914-1918.
