Jack Bonser was born in 1898 in Nottingham and was the son of William a plumber and Mary Bonser née Garton of 7 Argyle Street Radford Nottingham. His father William was born in 1862 in Earls Barton, Northamptonshire and his mother Mary Barton was born in 1860 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, they were married in 1897 in Nottingham and had a further child a daughter Annie b1901 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 7 Argyle Street, Radford, Nottingham and are shown as William 49 yrs a plumber, he is living with his wife Mary 51 yrs and their 2 children Jack 13 yrs a scholar and Annie 10 yrs a scholar.

1/1st Bn South Nottinghamshire Hussars
Private Jack Bonser, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/1st South Nottinghamshire Hussars, he died of wounds 21st November 1917 in Cairo, Egypt. He is buried in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.
