Graham Jacobs was born in 1897 he was the son of Charles William a coal miner and Emma Jacobs née Burdett of 58 Bagshaw Street, Pleasley Hill. Charles William was born in 1862 at Murrow, Cambridge Emma Burdett was born in 1863 at Pleasley Hill, they were married in 1894 at Mansfield they went on have 6 children, sadly three died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at 58 Bagshaw Street, Pleasley Hill Charles William 49 yrs is a coal miner he is living with his wife Emma 48 yrs and their 3 children , Graham 14 yrs a mill hand, Ivy 12 yrs and Hilda 10 yrs.

Dragoon Guards
Private Graham Jacobs served with the 1st Bn King's Dragoon Guards. He enlisted on 6th January 1915 at Mansfield aged 18 years and 6 months he was a coal miner. . He landed in France on 19th March 1917 where he served until 14th October 1917 when he was transferred to India. He died of influenza on 3rd November 1919 at Station Hospital, Risalpur, India. According to his service records he was admitted to hospital on 30th October 1918. ( but on CWGC date of death is 23/11/1918.) Was a skilled saddler receiving his certificate of trade proficiency on 6th January 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Karachi 1914-1918 War Memorial.
