He was the step son of Frank and Mary Crompton. In 1911 they lived at 39 Cremorne Street Meadows Nottingham. Arthur Thomas married his wife Florry Hodges (born 6th April 1892) in 1912 at Nottingham, they lived at 78 Lamcote Street Meadows Nottingham they had the following children, Gladys born 12th October 1912, Francis Arthur born 4th June 1914 and Arthur Moorcroft born 25th August 1916. Following his death his widow Florry was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 22nd April 1918. .
He was a framework knitter in 1911.

6th Bn Alexandra Princess of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment)
Sergeant Arthur Thomas Moorcroft, served with the 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, he died of wounds on 11th October 1917 and is buried in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium.
In memoriam published 11th October 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “MOORCROFT. — In loving memory of my beloved son, Arthur, killed in action October 11th, 1917. Ever in our thoughts. — From loving mother and family. “MOORCROFT. — In loving memory dear husband, A T. Moorcroft, died October 11th, 1917. Forgive my grief for one removed.
