Harry Abbott was born in 1888 at Mansfield and was the son of Maria Abbott and the brother of Alfred and Frank Abbott of Main Street Newthorpe Nottinghamshire. In the 1911 census he is living at 18 Milnhay Road, Langley Mill, he is shown as 23 yrs of age single and a bricklayers labourer, he is living with his widowed mother Maria Bower 63 yrs, (census states second marriage) and his two elder brothers Alfred 30 yrs a colliery banksman and Frank 26 yrs a colliery banksman
In the 1911 census he is a bricklayers labourer

11th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Harry Abbott enlisted at Derby and served with the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died of wounds on 18th September 1917 and is buried at in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.
