Joseph William Hull was baptised on 8th October 1890 at Holy Trinity Church, Burton on Trent, he was the son of the late William a rail baggage enquirer and Emma Hull née Walsh. William was born in 1866 at Radcliffe on Trent, he died in 1897 aged 31 yrs, Emma Walsh was born in 1867 at Somercoates, she died in 1893 aged 26 yrs, they were married in 1886 at Nottingham. In 1911 Joseph is a visitor, he is visiting an address in Shelford Village Nottingham, he is 20 yrs of age and a waggoner, he is visiting William Allwood 54 yrs a labourer and his family At the time of his death Joseph was living with his aunt Charlotte Carnell (nee Hull) of Harlequin Radcliffe on Trent Nottingham.

4th Bn Guards Machine Gun Regiment
Private Joseph William Hull enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Radcliffe on Trent, he initially served with the service number 17061 in the Grenadier Guards, he landed in France on 4th January 1915. He was killed in action whilst serving with the 4th battalion Guards machine gun company. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial Panel 11
