George Frederick was born in 1895 the son of George a Midland Railway signalman and Ada Collins née Dodge and the brother of Ada Collins. of 8 Hazlewood Road Hyson Green Nottingham. George was born in 1868 at Nottingham, Ada Dodge was born in 1870 at Sileby, Leicestershire, married in 1893 at Nottingham they had 2 children. In 1911 the family were living at 8 Hazelwood Road, Hyson Green. Nottingham. George married Mary Josephine Logan (born 25th August 1891) in 1917 at Nottingham, they lived at 13 Petersham Street, New Lenton His widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week commencing 14th January 1918.
In 1911 he was a lace curtain changer.

Private George Frederick Collins enlisted at Nottingham, he was killed in action on , 23rd June 1917, by German shellfire, whilst serving in the trenches near Leivin, France, he is buried at Loos British Cemetery Grave Reference: XIX A 6
