Bulwell Nottingham
Born in 1873, George Clayton married Annie Eliza Blatherwick at Nottingham in 1894. Seven of their eight children survived infancy - Nellie b.1895, Gershom b.1899, Harold b.1901, Elsie b.1903, George b.1907, Lilly b.1908 and Mary b.1910. In 1911 they lived at 4 Mullberry Terrace Bulwell Nottingham.
He was a coal miner.

George Clayton served with the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment) [Robin Hood Rifles]. He died at Bagthorpe Isolation Hospital and was buried in Basford Cemetery on 26th February 1916. However, he is not recorded as casualty of war by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
