Albert Dale

Albert was born in 1885 (J/A/S Nottingham) and was the son of Lavinia Dale. Albert married Hannah Davis in 1904 (O/N/D Nottingham). In 1911 they were living at 10 Ball Pit Yard, Coalpit Lane, Nottingham, with their three sons: Albert b. 1906 (J/A/S Nottingham), Charles b, 1907 (A/M/J Nottingham) and James 1909 (O/N/D Nottingham). Albert (26) was a van driver for a lace dresser, and Hannah (23) was working as a lace dresser. Their youngest son, James, may have died in 1914 (J/F/M Nottingham) aged 4. At the time of Albert's death the family was living at 5 Pump Street, Nottingham. His widow Hannah married James E Stevenson in 1917 (O/N/D Nottingham). His brother George William Dale served with the Buffs (East Kent) Regiment (8536 Lance Corporal) died of wounds in hospital in Nottingham on 22 November 1915 and was buried in Nottingham Northern Cemetery.

He was a van driver in 1911.

Albert was initially reported missing and wounded and not reported killed in action until April the following year. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial (Panel 20-22).
