Daniel Michael Deering was the youngest of seven children born to John Patrick Deering and Ann Harrison Marples. He married Ada Huctchby (born 1881 at Basford) on 3rd August 1901 at Nottingham and they had four children - Eveline b.1897 Basford, Daniel b.1902 Bulwell, Frances b.1907 Mansfield and Winifred Ann b.1914 in Mansfield. In 1911 they lived at 39 Station Road Shirebrook Nottinghamshire. Lodging with the family were miners Tom Keane and James Collins.
Daniel was a miner (stall man).

Vadencourt British Cemetery, Maissemy Grave Reference: III A 39 In Memoriam published 7th April 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post: “DEERING. – Daniel M. Deering, killed in action April 6th, [sic] 1917. The rolling stream of life rolls on, and still the vacant chair recalls the love, the smile, the face of him who once sat there. We cannot clasp thy hand, dear one, thy face we cannot see, but let this little token show we still remember thee. – From his loving wife [Ada] and children.” Research by Peter Gillings
