He was the husband of Alice Maud (née Tilling) Knowles and the father of William Harry, Hilda Grace, Lois, Joseph and Florence Knowles. In 1911 they lived in Beeston and later at 12 Alison Rise Alfred Street Central Nottingham, before moving to 71 Borland Road, Nottingham.
He was a labourer.
