James William Gregory served with the battalion at Gallipoli and in Egypt. He arrived in France with the battalion on 1 July 1916. On 26th September 1916 the battalion attacked as part of the Battle of Thiepval. The battalion took all of its objectives but at high cost. James was killed in action but has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial
