Bernard James Hudson was born in 1895 he was the son of Harriet Hudson and the brother of Hilda Hudson. In 1911 the family lived at 2 Lilley's Row Selston. Harriett is 45 yrs a widow and dress maker, she is living with her son Benjamin 16 yrs a colliery labourer and Hilda 12 yrs a scholar.
In 1911 he was a colliery labourer above ground.

Private Bernard James Hudson enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Selston, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died at 46th casualty clearing station, France on 28th June 1917 and is buried at Mendinghem Military Cemetery Grave Reference: II E 32
