He was the son of Henry Walter and Emma Hardy and the brother of Harriet, and Selina Hardy. In 1901 they lived at 20 Peas Hill Road Nottingham. He married Mary G Harris in Nottingham in 1913. She lived later at 8 Kearney's Lane Cork.
Harry Winrow Hardy was a career soldier. In 1911 he was serving with 2nd Battalion The King's Regiment at Ambala Punjab India.

Private Harry Winrow Hardy, served with 'D' Company, 2nd Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He landed in France on 10th August 1914 was killed in action on 18th November 1914. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Panel 47
