8th Bn Lawrence evidently gave 12/5/1883 as his date of birth when enlisting in the Royal Navy on August 12th 1901. However, his birth was registered O/N/D/ 1881. Although he enlisted for twelve years (confirmed by CWGC), he apparently left in October 1906 (Register of Seamen's Services). Menin Gate Panel 24-26-28-30
