Ernest Orange was born in Woodborough on 29th April 1887 and was the older brother of Harold (killed in action 20/2/1917) whose parents were Samuel and Eliza Orange of 132 Gordon Road, Nottingham. The 1891 Census listed him as living on Dark Lane (now Shelt Hill), Woodborough. In 1911 Census he was living with his parents and family on Main Street at Woodborough.
He was a general labourer.

Canadian Infantry
Prior to the outbreak of war Ernest emigrated to Canada and enlisted the 116th Battalion Canadian Infantry. Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged) 4 November 1918: ORANGE, killed in action September 30th 1918, Corporal Ernest Orange, Canadian Machine Gun Corps, eldest son of Mr and Mrs S Orange, 132 Gordon Road, Nottingham, age 31.
He is buried at Queant Communal Cemetery, Pas De Calias,France
