John Perry was born in 1898 the son of Elizabeth Perry of 12 Lewis Place, Rancliffe Street, Sussex Street, Nottingham. His mother was born in 1857 at Nottingham and was a widow before 1901 Census when she was living with her children at 26 Exchange Street, Mount Street, Nottingham. It has not been possible to trace her husband. She has the following children all of whom were born in Nottingham, Emma b.1884, Mary Ann b.1886, William b.1888, Joseph b.1890, Richard b.1894 and John b.1898. In 1911 Elizabeth Perry, a charwoman, lived at 12 Lewis Street, Rancliffe Street, Nottingham.

John Perry enlisted at Nottingham, landed in France on 9th September 1915 and died of wounds on 18th June 1917. He is buried in Achiet-Le-Grande Communal Cemetery extension, France grave Reference I.M.1
