He was the son of John and Elizabeth Brown and the brother of Thomas, Joseph, Mary, John, Alfred, Ann and Isabella Brown. In 1901, the family lived at 7, Regent's Place, Bloomsgrove Street and in 1911 at 11, Wyville Street (both Radford, Nottingham). In 1912, Frank married Violet Mary Stafford at Oakham and their son Frank Leonard Brown was born at Cardiff in 1916.
Frank Brown was a dental mechanic upon enlistment.

He attested 5/6/1916 aged 25. He served in the UK until 2/12/1916, in France between 3/12/1916 and 3/8/1917 and then again in the UK until he was discharged unfit for military service (wounds) aged 26 12/12/1917.
He died at Nottingham General Hospital. Nottingham Evening Post, Deaths 12/7/1921: 'Brown - On July 11th at the General Hospital, Frank the dearly loved husband of May (sic) Brown, 22 Belper Road, aged 30 years.' 'Brown - On the 11th inst., Frank the youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr Brown, 11 Wyville Street.' No CWGC entry.
