William Billington was born in 1875 at Greenwich, London and was the son of William Billington William Billington married his wife Louis Freeton (born 13th December 1875 Kinoulton) on 5th February 1898 at St John's Church, Horsleydown, London , they lived at 36 Redoubt Street, Radford and had the following children, Alfred William born 1902 Ernest born 29th January 1910, John born 31st July 1911 and Charles Thomas born 29th March 1914 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 2 Melton Terrace Nottingham and were shown as William Billington 36 yrs a machine clerk, he is living with his wife Louis 35 yrs and their children, Alfred 9 yrs a scholar, and Ernest 1 year of age. Following his death his widow Louise was awarded a pension of 32 shillings and 1 penny a week which commenced on 10th June 1918.
He was a machine clerk.

10th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Sergeant William Billington enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He went to France on 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, 19th November 1917, during the German shelling of the trenches near Langemarck, Belgium. He is buried at Solferino Farm Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 2. Row B. Grave 19.
