Albert Frier was born in Nottingham in 1892 and was the son of Thomas William a labourer and Zillah Frier née Harriman of 68 Trafalgar Street, Radford, Nottingham. His father Thomas William was born in 1852 at Grimstone, Leicestershire, his mother Zillah Harriman was born in 1853 at Ilkeston, they were married on 28th August 1874 in Nottingham, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood their children were, William Henry b1877 Lenton, George b1880 Lenton, Frances Louise b1889 Nottingham, Wesley b1891 Nottingham, Albert b1892 Nottingham and Claude b1897 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 68 Trafalgar Street Radford Nottingham and are shown as William Frier 59 yrs a labourer, he is living with his wife Zillah 58 yrs and their children Albert 18 yrs a labourer and Claude 14 yrs a tobacco presser., also living with them is Henry Frier 86 yrs a widow and old age pensioner, William's father. Albert Frier married his wife Mabel Taylor (born 8th December 1891) in 1912 in Nottingham, they lived at 1 Target Street, Old Radford, Nottingham, they went on to have 2 children, Lily born 10th February 1913 and Mabel born 19th August 1914. Following his death his widow Mabel was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 25th November 1918.
He was a labourer in 1911.

Private Albert Frier enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Radford he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 21st March 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
