Arthur Ernest Stratton was born in 1891 at Benwick, Cambridgeshire and was the son of Frank a waiter and Emily Stratton née Chapman and brother of Tom Stratton. They lived at 81 Salisbury Street Radford Nottingham. His father Frank was born in 1867 at Benwick, his mother Emily Kate Chapman was born in 1871 at Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, they were married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Huntingdon registration district, their other son Tom was born in 1890 at Ramsey. In the 1911 census the family are living at 81 Salisbury Street, Basford and are shown as Frank Stratton 44 yrs a waiter, he is living with his wife Emily Kate 40 yrs and their son Ernest 20 yrs a skating ring worker.
In the 1911 census he worked at a skating ring.

52nd Bde Royal Field Artillery
Gunner Arthur Ernest Stratton enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 'D' Battery, 52nd Brigade Royal Field Artillery. He landed in France on 13th May 1915 and was killed in action on 31st August 1915 and is buried at Cambrin Military Cemetery, France.
