Thomas Pearson was born in 1897 at Nottingham and was the son of John an electric battery attendant and Fanny Pearson née Grundy of 12 Hague Terrace, Hague Street, Radford Nottingham. His father John Pearson was born in 1868 at Derby, his mother Fanny Grundy was born in 1870 also at Derby, they were married in 1898 at Nottingham and went on to have 7 children, sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were, John b1894, Thomas b1897, Ernest b1903, Leonard b1904 and Joseph Henry b 1911 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 11 Anson Terrace, Pleasant Row, Hyson Green, Nottingham and were shown as John 43 yrs an electric battery attendant, he is living with his wife Fanny 41 yrs and their children, John 17 yrs a stone boy in an electricity department, Thomas 14 yrs working at Raleigh cycle works, Ernest 8 yrs, Leonard 7 yrs and Joseph Henry 2 months old.

Private Thomas Pearson enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 4738 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was twice wounded and was killed in action on 18th August 1916 whilst serving with the 1st battalion Northamptonshire Regiment and is buried at Bazentin-Le-Petit communal cemetery extension, France.
