Following training the battalion was sent to Gallipoli in the liner "Mauretania," arriving at Mudros on 12/07/1915. The battalion moved to Suvla Bay on 07/08/1915 and attacked along the Kirsch Tepe Sirt Ridge, but were forced to retire. Hall who was killed in action that day. His body was never recovered, but his name was commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
