Frederick Allsopp was born in 1891 the son of Samuel a stone mason and Jane Ann Allsopp (née Dawes). Samuel was born in 1855 at Mansfield Woodhouse, Jane Ann Dawes in 1856 at Mansfield. She died in 1911 aged 55. They were married in Mansfield on 12th July 1874 and went on to have 16 children, 9 surviving infancy - Thomas b.1875, Fanny b.1877, Joseph b.1878, Mary b.1880, Samuel b.1882, George b.1885, Lizzie b.1886, William b.1889, Frederick b.1891, Esther Ann b.1893 and Jane b.1899, all were born in Mansfield. Frederick married Martha Baker in 1911 in the Chesterfield registration district. They lived with his father Samuel at 41, Portland Street, Mansfield with Frederick’s brother George, a plasterer, sister Esther a cotton spinner and Jane who was still at school.
He was a bricklayer in 1911.

Frederick Allsopp enlisted at Mansfield. He landed in France on 18th August 1915 and was killed in action on 23rd August 1916. He is buried in Knightsbridge Cemetery Mesnil- Martinsart, Grave Reference: D 65
