William Webster (junior) was born in 1895 at Basford the son of William Webster (senior) a colliery stationary engine driver and Mary Ann Webster (née Foster). William (senior) was born in 1874 at Cinderhill, Mary Ann Foster in 1874 at Bulwell. Married in 1893, they had the following children - William b.1895 at Basford, the others at Cinderhill; Beatrice Louisa b.1901, Francis George b.1906, John b.1907, Sarah b.1910, and Robert b.1918. In 1911, they lived at 53, Napoleon Square, Cinderhill. Mary worked as a Swiss lace maker. Wiliam's other siblings were either at school or infants. William Webster (junior) married Grace Lillian Matthews (born 13th February 1894) on 5th August 1916 at St Leodegarious Church, Basford. Their daughter Lillian May was born 4th October 1917 and they lived at 5, White Cottages, Vernon Road and 22, Bailey Street, both Old Basford, Nottingham. With effect from 25/3/1918, Grace received a weekly pension of 18/9d.
William Webster was a colliery engineer in 1911.
