George Harold Brown was born in 1891 he was the only child of the late George a chemist and Clara Louisa Brown née Horbery of Bigby Road, Brigg. George Brown was born in 1850 at West Butterwick, Lincolnshire, he died in 1967 aged 67 yrs, Clara Louise Horbery was born in 1858 at Haxey, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1889 their marriage was recorded in the Gainsborough registration district. In 1911 his parents are living at 28 Market Place, Brigg Georg 61 yrs a chemist is living with his wife Clara Louisa 53 yrs. In the same 1911 census George Harold has moved out of the family home, he is boarding at 14 Chain Lane, Newark, he is 20 yrs single and an assistant chemist, he is living with Rebecca Sims, 50 yrs single
He attended Queen Elizabeth School from 19/09/1904 to Christmas 1905. (Other school records give 1904-1906). Chemist assistant; his father had also been a chemist/druggist. Started his career in Newark.

Private George Harold Brown enlisted at Canterbury he Served at 41st Casualty Clearing Station, given his background probably as a medical orderly. He died of a bomb wound to his left side and was buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun (grave ref. IV.F.30).
