Private Harold Barrows enlisted on 1st June 1915 at Mansfield aged 20 years and 95 days he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He went to France 6th March 1916 and suffered a gunshot wound to his left foot 10th October 1916. He was treated at 44 Casuslty Clearing Station, Puchevillers, France and transferred to 20 General Hospital, Boulogne, France 12th October 1916. He was transported via Hospital Ship St. Andrew to England, 13th October 1916. He returned to France 15th June 1917 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 23, on the first day of the German spring offensive (Kaiserschlacht) at Noreuil, France. Commemorated : Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
