Sergeant William James Sansom, enlisted in February 1916, he gave his age as 19 years and 332 days. he served with the 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and was killed in action on 6th October 1917. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
One of his brothers, Pte. Harry Sansom, 8th Battalion York & Lancaster Regiment, was killed in action on 7th June 1917. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate.
