Albert Booth was born in 1888 he was the son of Carroll a coal miner hewer and Ann Elizabeth Booth née Barthorpe of 39 Park Hall Road, Mansfield Woodhouse. Carrol Booth was born in 1862 at Woodhouse, Sheffield, Ann Elizabeth Barthorpe was born in 1862 at Ranby near Retford, they were married on 1st March 1881 at Beighton, Derbyshire, they went on to have 10 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at 3 Warren Terrace, Shirebrook Carrol is 49 yrs and a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Ann Elizabeth 49 yrs and 5 of their children including Albert 23 yrs a coal miner labourer.

17th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Albert Booth enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action, 31st July 1917, during the attack on the German positions near Steenbeek, Belgium. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. Panel 39 and 41.
