Alfred Pinnick was born in 1897 he was the son of Charles a coal miner hewer and Rhoda Pinnick née Jarvis of 62 Leeming Lane, Mansfield woodhouse. Charles was born in 1864 at Malden, Essex, Rhoda Jarvis was born in 1864 at Whaley, Derbyshire, they were married on 16th July 1883 at Bolsover, they went on to have 9 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family are living at 34 Devonshire Street, Shirebrook, Charles 47 yrs is a coal miner hewer he is living with his wife Rhonda 47 yrs and 6 of their children including Alfred 14 yrs a coal miner pony driver
He was a coal miner.

11th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Alfred Pinnick enlisted on 7th September 1814 at Mansfield, he served with the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He landed in France on 27th August 1915, and died of wounds on 3rd July 1916 and is buried at Ribemont Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. Plot 2. Row J. Grave 10.
Alfred's brother Harry also served with the Sherwood Foresters and has his service number was 15983 they probably enlisted together on 07/09/1914. Harry survived.
