James William Weedon was born in 1876 the son of Lorenzo a labourer in a colliery and Sarah Weedon née Colbert of 18 Wellington Street Eastwood Nottinghamshire. Lorenzo was born in 1844 at Richmond, Sarah Ann Colbert was born in 1854 at Bury, Huntingdonshire, married in 1873 at Leicester they had 6 children. James married Annie Nichollls in 1901 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had the following children, Margaret Annie b1902, Evelyn b1905, Nellie b1907, Edna b1912 and William Alfred Weedon b1915, they lived at Abbott Street, Awsworth. In 1911 they lived on Chapel Street Eastwood and later at 68 Abbot Street New Awsworth Nottinghamshire. Commencing 10th January 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 27 shillings a week.
He was a machine fitter's assistant in 1911.

1st Bn King's Own Scottish Borderers
Private James William Weedon, enlisted in Nottingham whilst residing in Awsworth and served with 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers, he was killed in action on 4th June 1915 in the Dardanelles . He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
