He was the son of George and Emma Fisher and the brother of George and Nora Fisher. In 1891, they lived at 14, King's Lynn Terrace, Turner Street in 1901 and at 15, Burton Street, (both Nottingham). He was the husband of Hattie (née Holehouse) Fisher and the father of John (26/1/1907), Grenville (15/9/1911) and Mavis Nora (11/11/1915) Fisher. They lived at 14, Charlton Avenue, Long Eaton in 1911 and later at 12, North Street, Beeston.
He was a lace draughtsman.

He enlisted 8/12/1915 under Lord Derby's Scheme standing 5' 8" and weighing 119 lbs. He was called up in 1917 (medically examined 3rd April). He was wounded twice in 1918 - on 25th April and 6th May and posted missing 16/9/1918.
Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged) 18 September 1919: ' FISHER, missing September 16th 1918, now dead, Corporal CW Fisher (Claude), 10th Sherwood Foresters, Lewis Gunner, youngest son of Mr and Mrs GJ Fisher, Leonard Avenue, Sherwood. Father, mother, sisters, brothers.'
